Whether you’re a total avoider of animal products, a flexitarian, or just trying out meat free Mondays for the first time, the vegan restaurant scene in Fulham is starting to prove that a plant-based diet is for everyone.
We particularly love that there’s something to suit every vegan requirement: our list has a choice for brunch, lunch, a three-course dinner and drinks, and everything in between!
If you’re at all into reality TV, Tell Your Friends will probably sound familiar- it’s owned by Lucy and Tiffany Watson of Made in Chelsea fame. The sisters are passionate vegans and their restaurant is no different, serving vegan variations on everything from eggs on toast to sausages and mash.
Tell Your Friends is open all day, but it’s their Sunday brunch menu that really stands out: try The Hungover Muffin, a mammoth sandwich of Moving Mountains sausage, hash brown, smashed avocado, pickled slaw, vegan cheese and BBQ sauce.
If you want to make it a boozy brunch all their alcohol is vegan and from ethical and environmentally friendly brands. Even better- The White Horse, one of our favourite bars in Fulham, is round the corner.
Tip: Take note that Tell Your Friends is card only.
You might recognise Re:Centre from our guide to yoga in Fulham- this multi-functional space hosts yoga classes, artists, and a seasonal vegetarian café with excellent vegan options.
Drinks-wise, you can choose from oat, coconut or almond milk, and we like how they offer a vegan option if you’d want to add protein to a smoothie post-yoga class. For breakfast, their homemade granola or toast with homemade baked beans gets our vote.
Tip: If you enjoy their seasonal, natural food, our list of the best places to brunch in Fulham will probably be right up your street.
Strictly speaking, Riccardo’s Italian Restaurant on the Fulham Road isn’t vegan, or even vegetarian, but they’ve earnt a place on our list due to their extensive vegan options and willingness to adapt dishes according to their diners’ requirements. The portions here are satisfyingly large, making it a perfect place to refuel after a session at one of the many gyms in Fulham.
This is partly down to their Tuscan-style menu; which prioritises small, sharing-style plates over main dishes. We find this style of eating lends itself well to plant-based diets- and is perfect if you want to go out to eat with non-vegan friends.
Bonus: Riccardo’s offer gluten free options if you need them.
North End Road is known locally for being a bit of a hub for vegan food in Fulham, and 222 is a real highlight. It has one of the most exciting vegan menus on our list; it’s created by Ben Asami who’s known worldwide for his nutritious creations.
You can choose from mains that put plants centre stage, such as Egusi, a traditional African dish made from ground melon seed, or if you’re a vegan that misses meat, seitan stroganoff will hit the spot.
Tip: 222 is extremely popular and not the largest of spaces, so we’d recommend booking ahead if possible.
What happens if you want to go vegan but still need your pizza fix? Humble Pizza brand themselves as a ‘plant-based perspective on the world’s most popular meal’- absolutely worth the quick walk up the King’s Road to reach it.
Choose from a cauliflower or focaccia base- toppings-wise, go as classic as you can with vegan cheese alternatives, or leave it out and have simply veggies on top. If you’re not a pizza fan (as if!), soup and salads are also on the menu. Their interiors (and Instagram) don’t hurt as well- think all-pink to accompany your pizza.
