The widely regarded scheme for first-time buyers is coming to an end two months earlier than expected. First-time buyers hoping to take advantage of the scheme are advised to act quickly.
With the Help to Buy scheme ending in March 2023, the deadline to reserve your property is 6pm on 31st October 2022. This is because buyers will need time to complete their purchase before the scheme ends.
There are different Help to Buy schemes available. The most popular being the equity loan and shared ownership options.
For properties valued up to £600,000, the equity loan scheme allows Londoners to take out a government loan of up to 40% of the purchase price. The loan is interest free for five years and must be settled either when the home is sold or when the mortgage has been paid off.
Shared ownership differs slightly. It offers first-time buyers the opportunity to purchase a share of a property, usually between 25-75%, and pay the government rent on the remaining share.
We have several Help to Buy properties in London, read on for our top new build developments.
