The course started at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the cyclists rode past the Tower of London towards Chiswick. The 100-mile route led the cyclists out to Leith Hill, one of the major climbs of the day, closely followed by the famously gruelling Box Hill. The M&P cyclists, along with 30,500 others, rode back through Oxshott towards Putney, before being met by the chorus of cheers as they rode through central London before finishing on The Mall.
John-Paul Burrough (Senior Sales Manager, Tooting) started at 6:44am followed by Bartek Boski (Facilities Manager, HQ) at 7:04am and, finally, Laura Rogers (Fleet & Facilities Coordinator, HQ) started the course at 7:40am.
John-Paul Burrough completed the course in 6 hours 16 minutes. Bartek Boski rode the course in 6 hours 46 minutes and Laura Rogers followed close behind coming in with a time of 7 hours 10 minutes.
Bartek said of his experience:
“I am extremely lucky to be able to participate in London – Surrey 2019! The race itself was a mixture of euphoria and pain but getting to the finish line whilst wearing the Team Anthony Nolan jersey was an unforgettable feeling! The team at Anthony Nolan were so amazing with organising the post-race reception for the riders and their families! We were greeted with loud cheers and applause at the Royal Institution. An amazing end to a fantastic day! Thanks to my fellow riders, Laura & JP for their fantastic support before and during the race!”
As well as the hours of training, all 3 cyclists raised a total of £2,332 which is enough to add 90 potential lifesavers to the donor register.
