With October half term falling on the week before Halloween, London is teeming with ghoulish things to take the kids to. We’ve picked our top five family-friendly Halloween events in London to help you decide:
Enjoy a spook-tacular range of Halloween-themed activities this half term at London Zoo, including a Ghoul School where children can dress up as their favourite Halloween character, pumpkin carving at the Pumpkin Patch and ghostly Halloween-inspired animal demonstrations and talks. Finish the day with a visit to the Pumpkin Party, where the little ones can show off their ‘devilish dance moves’.
The Electric Cinema on Portobello Road is hosting a special Kids’ Club Halloween party on Saturday 28th October. Join them for mummy madness games, the scariest costume competition you’ve ever seen and much more, followed by a spooky screening of The Addams Family.
On the 27th and 28th October, Museums at Night are hosting after-dark events at London’s many galleries and museums. The events feature late-night exhibitions, Halloween-themed workshops and torch-lit tours. Events include a celebration of Venetian culture at The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace and a Halloween storytelling trip aboard a narrowboat through the Islington Tunnel at the London Canal Museum.
Find out what happens when the Museum of London closes its doors for the night at their ‘night owls sleepover’ on Friday 27th October. Attendees have the chance to trick-or-treat their way around the galleries and solve a spooky crime by torchlight. Take part in an interactive storytelling session before settling down for the night in the museum galleries. Guests are treated to a lightbreakfast and are invited to watch a family friendly film in the morning. Is it just us who is imagining a scene similar to Night at the Museum?
Whilst the Hogwarts After Dark event is already sold out (we’re incredibly jealous of anyone attending this), the studio tours are darker than usual, with a special Halloween Dark Arts feature. Visitors can “delve deeper than ever before into the Dark Arts” and duel with a Death Eater, as well as visiting the Great Hall which will be decorated with over 100 floating pumpkins, as seen at the Halloween Feast in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Feeling inspired by our pick of Halloween events? Take a look at our five properties that have that extra magic about them.
