The 18th of October saw Marsh & Parsons come together for our biggest fundraising effort of the year. Teams of agents from each of our 27 offices joined forces to race in our Run for a Life relay, aiming to cover a 55-mile route across London to raise money for the blood disease charity Anthony Nolan.
The route began at our headquarters in Hammersmith, with Property Manager Danielle and Client Services Consultant Poppy running the baton over to our Brook Green office. From there, it got passed down through south-west London to Richmond, before heading across to Barnes and over the river into Fulham. It then made its way down into south London, covering our Battersea, Tooting, Balham, Clapham and Streatham Hill offices, before heading back to central London. Senior Sales Negotiator Salma and Office Coordinator Alessandra bravely took over one of the longest stints of the race, Marylebone to Shoreditch, which clocked in at 4.3 miles.
By this point, all the offices were trying to outdo each other, finding more and more imaginative ways to pass the baton between them, sending the best photographic evidence, and getting creative with a final push for fundraising. Thanks to our family and friends for an overwhelming amount of support on the day!
Meanwhile at HQ, we were working just as hard eating our way through an enormous barbecue and bake sale (it would be rude not to with all proceeds going towards the total raised for the day), showing off our sponsored mufti day outfits and keeping up with the pictures, videos and updates being sent to us from all over London.
Once the baton had made its way to Shoreditch, it passed through north London, with Tufnell Park agents Dawn and Maryam and Office Coordinator Jade taking on another hefty 4.3 miles. The support of the Anthony Nolan team undoubtedly made this easier- a group came down from their Gospel Oak offices to watch the runners speed past on their way to Willesden Green.
Excitement across our network built as the baton hit north-west London, as it meant we were entering the final stage of the route. We had some brilliant team efforts, from agents running in costume to a team of eight taking care of the Notting Hill to Kensington route.
The relay finished back at our HQ office, where we were waiting for its return with some well-deserved beers (although sadly no leftover barbecue). Overall team Marsh & Parsons managed to complete the route in nine hours and 50 minutes and at the time of writing have raised £2,252, with fundraising totals and donations still flooding in.
