Celebrating the capitals favourite hobby, London Cocktail Week is back from the 1st to the 7th October and promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Hosted by DrinkUp.London, a pass to the annual event entitles festival-goers to £6 festival cocktails in 300 of London’s best bars, first-look access to pop-ups and parties and free, unlimited entry to The Cocktail Village, located at the Old Truman Brewery. With so many bars and events to choose from, we’ve put together our top picks to help you plan your week – all you need is an oyster card and a well-lined stomach!
Like most, we’re a sucker for novelty and this miniature pop-up certainly ticks the box. Hendrick’s are throwing a three-night celebration of this sophisticated drink, where guests are presented with their Tini Martini Passport to guide them through their journey. Featuring takeovers from some of the world’s best bars and microscopic games throughout, it’s certainly set to be magical!
Ticket cost: £12
Known as one of London’s quirkiest bars, Last Tuesday Society is nestled within the Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities. Exhibiting all kinds of weird and wonderful trinkets and pieces, the cocktail bar is devoted to absinthe. If 50% spirits aren’t your thing, their London Cocktail Week special is a delicious-sounding Half Moon Henry, featuring Bourbon, pure maple syrup, pineapple and star anise bitters, garnished with a maraschino cherry and a stroopwafel with chocolate sauce – and only £6!
New York-based The Dead Rabbit is making its way across the pond for London Cocktail Week for the second time. Hosted in the Sun Tavern in Bethnal Green, the world’s best bar will be serving brand-new cocktails and their world-renowned Irish Coffee to lucky punters. Kicking off at 6pm on the 2nd October, be sure to get there early as queues are expected to be out of the door!
The London Essence Company are unveiling ‘The Light House’ this London Cocktail Week – an immersive journey exploring the essence of light. By day, this pop-up will offer a sensory escape from the reality of our busy lives, and by night it becomes a must-see destination, stimulating everyone who steps inside. Each evening will see a different industry-leading bartender mix their own interpretation of light to craft, low-calorie cocktails and guests are also invited to partake in ‘Light Talks’ on health and wellbeing, exploring a ‘lighter life’.
Ticket Cost: £12
Tony Conigliaro’s flagship venue, also known as the Bar With No Name, has won plenty of high-profile awards since opening in 2009. Identifiable by an outdoor lantern, this unique cocktail bar is housed in one intimidate room and is offering two London Cocktail Week Specials: The Dirty Lemon Martini and the English Tickler – both only £6 with a festival pass.
So there you have it! Hopefully our top picks will help you plan your week; we’ll leave the hangover food decisions to you though.
