2018 Halloween events in London

With half term done and dusted, there are still some great Halloween events in London on this week. From pick your own pumpkins to adult-only foodie evenings, here’s our round-up of the remaining Halloween events in the city.

Halloween Delicious History Tour at Fortnum & Masons

  • Fortnum & Masons, Picadilly
  • £40 for adults
  • Wed 31st October @ 7pm

This 60-minute adults-only Halloween tour will begin on the 5th floor of the Picadilly Fortnum & Masons with the bloodiest Bloody Marys. Dr Andrea Tanner, Fortnum & Masons archivist and expert will then take you on a tour of the famous, and oft-thought haunted building, including behind the scenes access. There will also be frequent tastings along the tour, as you explore each room.

Pick your own pumpkins at Garsons Farm

  • Garsons Farm, Esher
  • Free entry, pumpkins @ £0.79kg
  • Ends 1st November

If you’re looking for something outdoorsy this week, don your wellies and head to the Garsons Farm fields in Esher. The farm is currently offering pick your own pumpkins between 9am and 5pm each day.

The farm has 27 crops alongside pumpkins, and with the picking season finishing at the end of October, there’s still time to get all your week’s fruit and veg while the little ones pick a pumpkin to carve once home. Currently ripe for picking are beetroot, spinach, cabbage, and squash.

Dark Arts at Warner Bros Studio

  • Warner Bros Studio, Leavesden
  • Free for ages 0-4, £35 for ages 5-15, £43 for adults
  • Ends 10th November

Head to the dark side over the next few weeks, with the Harry Potter Dark Arts feature at Warner Bros Studio. Visitors can explore the Great Hall, filled with levitating pumpkins and cauldrons of lollipops. Learn how to combat dark spells in wand training, then take part in a live duel with Death Eaters on the Hogwarts Bridge.
There’ll also be lessons on creating slimy troll snot, plus a gloomy Diagon Alley to meander. Once you’ve explored the Dark Arts feature, your ticket also includes entry to the remainder of the Harry Potter experience, including the Forbidden Forest.

Creepy crawlies at London Zoo

  • ZSL London Zoo, Regent’s Park
  • Free for ages 0-3, £18 for ages 3-15, £24.30 for adults

ZSL London Zoo has opened a walk-through spider exhibit in time for Halloween this year. ‘In with the spiders’ takes visitors on an interactive exhibit that aims to present spiders in a better – less scary! – light. Meet UK native species before getting up close and personal with exotic spiders, including giant bird eaters, black widows, and huntsmen.

It sounds scary, but in reality the zoo is hoping to clear the spider’s name with this exhibit. Little ones will enjoy observing golden orb spiders, and taking a photo in the spider selfie mirror, plus asking questions of the talking tarantula. There’s even a spider in the bath to encounter!
Entry to the spider exhibit is included in the zoo entry price.

Journey to the underworld with Funicular Productions

  • Pedley Street Station
  • £53 per person
  • Ends 4th November

Head underground and board a train carriage on a journey to the underworld. An evening of immersive storytelling and delicious dining, with cooking by Louise Ellis, Masterchef The Professionals 2017 finalist.

Think creepy messages on the windows, and demonic characters to outwit, while the carriage hurtles to the land of the dead. There’s a bar offering Seven Deadly Sin cocktails to complement the menu, and prosecco to start the evening. The evenings are hosted by Funicular Productions – a team of immersive theatre professionals – which opened with the Murder Express earlier in the year. If you can’t make it for this Halloween event, be sure to keep an eye peeled for future events.
