Fri 09 Feb 2018

January is (finally) over and it’s that time of year again when the shops are filled with red hearts and roses. Whether you’re an all-out Valentine’s Day enthusiast or prefer to skip the chocolate and teddies and think outside the box, London really does have something for everyone. From ultra-romantic pop-ups to extra-tasty dining experiences, we’ve rounded up five ‘lovely’ events that are certain to put you in your loved one’s good books!

1. Disappearing Dining Club’s Little Quiet

Disappearing Dining Club's Little Quiet

In a nutshell: A six-course, intimate dining experience, hidden away in a tiny Barbican restaurant.

More information: Disappearing Dining Club aims to bring people together to enjoy great food and drink in private and unusual spaces. After several years of hosting supper clubs, they’ve opened a tiny, intimate restaurant, ‘Little Quiet’, in Barbican. For those looking to surprise their loved one with some cosy one-on-one time, make sure you book into Little Quiet’s 16-seater dining room this Valentine’s Day. Serving classic European dishes with a Scandinavian twist, your taste buds will certainly be adoring you after the delicious six-course menu.

2. Valentine’s Late Night Piano Recital

Late Night Piano Recital In a nutshell: A post-dinner rendition of romantic piano music, performed by one of the UK’s leading concert pianists.

More information: We’re not sure there’s anything quite as romantic as an evening of live piano music, set within the stunning Christopher Wren-designed St. James’ Church in Piccadilly. Running from 9:30pm-10:30pm, the event is timed perfectly to complement a romantic meal beforehand. The hour-long rendition will be performed by the phenomenal Warren Mailley-Smith, famed for being the first British pianist to perform all 240 pieces of Chopin from memory in 2016, and is sure to leave guests feeling loved-up by the end. Oh, and did we mention that each pair of tickets comes with a beautiful red rose?

3. The Ultimate Sensory Dining Experience at The Arch London

The Arch London In a nutshell: Delight your senses and indulge in The Arch London’s five-course dining experience.

More information: Set in their Hunter 486 restaurant, The Arch London’s Ultimate Sensory Dining Experience is a treat for your taste buds. A Valentine’s event like no other, guests can sample a love potion cocktail which promises to ‘cast a spell on that special someone’, followed by a delicious five-course menu boasting unexpected twists. We’re sure you’ll be in your date’s good books by the end of the evening!

4. A Valentine’s Evening with the Stars

Royal Greenwich Observatory In a nutshell: Leave your date feeling starry-eyed at the Royal Observatory Greenwich’s romantically themed planetarium show.

More information: Between the 9th and 14th February the Royal Observatory Greenwich is hosting romantic after-hours events, where loved up couples can meet a number of different astronomers, enjoy a romantically themed planetarium show, seek out the moon through their 18-tonne Victorian telescope, and stand on the spot where opposites attract and east meets west, in the Meridian Courtyard.

5. Greggs’ Valentine’s Day Candlelit Dinner

Greggs Valentine's Day In a nutshell: No-thrills, four-course Valentine’s meal, hosted by everyone’s favourite sausage roll maker.

More information: If your idea of a delicious, romantic meal is more steak bake than oysters, then Greggs’ Candlelit pop-up is the answer to your Valentine’s Day prayers. Couples are being offered the chance to enjoy a four-course meal in their Stockwell branch, washed down with prosecco. Cuisine on offer includes a composition of canapes, puff pastry parcels served with salad, and miniature doughnuts to finish – yum!
