Prime London letting sector 'to flourish in 2014'

The new year will be a positive one for the prime London letting sector, according to recent research.

Marsh and Parsons has released its 2014 forecast for the capital property market, which predicts rents in prime

areas will rise by between two and four per cent over the next 12 months - improving on the static performance

seen this year.

Peter Rollings, chief executive of the organisation, commented: "The improved economic mood has eased

anxiety among city firms and as a result, the corporate lettings sector will flourish next year."

He said the biggest rental growth is likely to occur in two-bedroom homes located in central areas like Kensington

and Chelsea.

Mr Rollings added that void periods will shorten as competition between tenants becomes more fierce.

This positive news for the London letting sector follows on from the city's mayor Boris Johnson announcing 5,000

rental properties are to be built each year as part of a new housing strategy last month.
