Moving on - Mercury rising: Freddies 1960s flat
Sat 26 Oct 2013
Leafy Barnes, in southwest London, is more traditionally associated with yummy mummies than with rock gods, yet this six-bedroom house on Ferry Road was once home toFreddie Mercury. The flamboyant Queen front man lived in a flat in part of the property in the late 1960s, with his band then known as Wreckage.
Mercury worked at Harrods to pay the rent, and the group rehearsed in the flat for their debut at Ealing Art College in 1969. The following year, Mercury formed Queen. The house is now seeking somebody to love it its for sale for 2.7m.
