Walkers raise over 10,000 for local Hospice
Mon 01 Jul 2013
On a sunny morning on sunday 30th June, over 120 people gathered at Trinity Hospice to take part in Trinity's Magnolia Walk around Wandswortha and Clapham Common.
So far 10,000 has been raised from the walk, with more sponsorship to still be added. The event was kindly sponsored by Marsh and Parson Estate Agents, meaning that all of the money raised was directly supporting Trinity.
Walkers took part in either a 2km, 5km or10km route, with many walking in memory of a loved one as well as supporting their local hospice. Supporters then ended their route by heading back to Trinity for a well-deserved BBQ in their award-winning gardens.
Aisha Nahamacher, event organiser said 'Trinity's Magnolia Walk was a great way fortheloval community to get together adn help support a great cause, with people of all ages taking part -someone even walked on a newly fixed broken ankle! Everyone worked really hard raising sponsorship and everything raised will help to support Trinity's nurses, who care for over 2,000 terminally il people and their families each year, completely free of charge."
Trinity receives less than a third of its funding from the govenment, meaning that it has to raise 7million every year in order to continue its vital work. Trinity would like to thank everyone who took part in the day either by walking or volunteering and would like to thank Field and Flower for donating the food for the BBQ as well as Sarah O'Neill for leading the warm up.
