Press Release: Increase in Activity at the Bottom of Londons Property Ladder
Mon 09 Mar 2009
There has been a massive increase in activity at the lower end of Londons property market according to estate agents Marsh & Parsons. As property prices have stabilised over the last two months, the number of viewings has soared.
Marsh & Parsons estimates the number of viewings from their Battersea, Clapham and Balham offices for properties on sale for less than 350,000 has quadrupled over the last two months.
Zane Shihabs garden flat on Tierney Road in Streatham Hill had only four viewings between November and December. But since January, it has been viewed 15 times. With three bedrooms, a 50ft south-facing garden, and off street parking, Zane is now confident hell get the 325,000 asking price for his three bedroom property.
Thomas Crabtree of Marsh & Parsons said, There has been a huge increase in the number of viewings were conducting around the 300,000 mark. We are seeing more young couples looking to buy now that prices are bottoming out. Across the whole of London, we saw over 2,000 new buyers register in January and February most with deposits of 20% plus. The fact that so many people are now looking at buying a first home is an excellent sign.
