Peter Rollings commenting on today’s figures from the Land Registry
Monday, 28 July 2008
"Although the fall in London house prices has been greater than the average for the country as a whole, this is not all bad news as it signifies that London has reacted much quicker to changing market conditions. However, to keep things in perspective, London property prices are still ahead 2.4% compared to last year. Comparatively speaking, London is better off than places like the Midlands where prices have fallen 2.3% in the last year.
And these falls have not hit London universally. There is still a good market for quality properties and surprisingly perhaps, the Land Registry figures actually show that prices have risen 1.1% in the last month in Kensington & Chelsea for instance. Further more, although prices in Westminster dropped 0.8% in the last month - they’ve still risen by an impressive15.3% since 2007.
With the London market having reacted to the present market conditions, this is a good time to be buying in London and there are some absolute steals on the market at present."
Press Release: If buildings could talk.
Wednesday, 23 July 2008
If only buildings could talk The Bramley Arms would have a host of memories to tickle movie-goers’ fancy. Most notable for its fleeting appearance in the 1979 Mods & Rockers classic, Quadrophenia, this penthouse flat in a converted Notting Hill pub has seen the likes of Ray Winstone and Toyah Wilcox swing through its doors.
Not only that, it’s played a minor part in several other iconic movies including the classic Ealing comedy ‘The Lavender Hill Mob’ with Alec Guinness. It also made an appearance in the Harold Pinter reverse-timescale drama ‘Betrayal’ and John Boorman's offbeat film ‘Leo the Last’. Alex Cox's ‘Sid And Nancy’ was the most recent film to feature The Bramley Arms, in 1986.

Peter Rollings commenting on today's decision from the Bank of England’s MPC
Thursday, 10 July 2008
"The MPC could have got away with a cut in base rate today – but choosing to hold rates was the safe move with inflation running at over 3%. But next month they must cut rates. With the number of property transactions down 50% in central London already, and prices down 15%, a rise in rates would be catastrophic. Inflation might be a threat, but a property market stall would be more damaging long term.
On the plus side, buyers in London who are able to raise finance will find some excellent bargains at the moment. With prices in London reacting so sharply to the lack of mortgage finance available, there is real value in this market."
