Marsh & Parsons has been named the Best Medium Letting Agent in London at the 2011 Lettings Agency of the Year Awards.

Marsh & Parsons won the award on the strength of its "sheer level of services and innovation", "the expertise of all employees", with the judges declaring Marsh & Parsons "a fantastic example of lettings at its best".

The award follows Marsh & Parsons being named Overall Winner of the 2010 Estate Agency of the Year Awards in December 2010, the sister event of the Lettings Agency of the Year Awards.

"London is defying the dip in house prices elsewhere in the UK.

"The figures show a monthly jump rise of 3% in April but in some prime parts of London, we can confirm they are even higher.  Prices in London have gone up by 5% this year and with limited supply and huge demand, we believe this trend will continue.  But in Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington & Chelsea, where Marsh & Parsons have seven offices, the rise is 6%.

"The reason is that there is still a shortage of property on the market, around 50% of its long term average however, although there is a pent up demand building, some potential buyers are still being restrained by the inadequate availability of mortgage finance.

"Today, the CEBR stated that house prices are close to bottom and that London will rise 2% faster than the rest of the UK.  That being the case, London represents good value – especially for overseas buyers who can leverage the relative weakness of sterling against the dollar and euro."

Marsh & Parsons is proud to be supporting the St Joseph’s RC Primary School's Auction of Promises for the first time.

This will take place at the school on Lanark Road,  Maida Vale, W9, on Saturday 21st May. Doors open at 6pm and the auction will commence at 7.30pm.

The evening aims to bring together the local community to help raise valuable funds for the school, which will be spent on new computers for the IT suite and maintaining the school’s two teacher system.  The auction has been running for more than 15 years, and raised more than £60,000 in 2010.

With rental budgets rising by 7% since the end of 2010, the corporate lettings market is continuing to show signs of resurgence - indicating a recovery in London’s economy, according to research by estate agent Marsh & Parsons.

After the recession set in, companies' appetites to spend heavily on high-end prime property to lure staff to relocate to London 'fell off a cliff'. In the past 12 months, this trend has reversed.  In the first quarter of the year, there were 10% more searches from relocation agents seeking to find homes for prime staff than a year ago – a 16% increase compared to Q1 2009.
