Peter Rollings commenting following the latest house price figures from the Land Registry

Monday, 28 September 2009

"London house prices have risen consistently over the past few months and continue to outperform the rest of the UK. But house prices don’t tell the whole story and, much like in other parts of the country, transactions in the capital are still extremely low by historic standards. There’s also a huge disparity between the short supply of properties for sale and resurgent demand from buyers, which has pushed up London prices. But we can expect more homeowners to put their homes on the market in the coming months – and confidence will be boosted by signs that lenders are increasing the mortgage finance on offer. This will help redress the supply-demand imbalance and prices will begin to plateau towards of the end of year."
